Sorting/editing

Currently trying to figure out if I can justify uploading 35 photographs from the most recent wedding I photographed--it was just such a beautiful affair I'm having trouble downsizing. We'll see how it goes, but for now here's a peek...

Waterfalls

Yesterday I spent the day hiking through the Columbia River Gorge area. There's a million hikes/adventures I need to start going on in the greater Portland area (now that its sunny!) so I figured I'd start with Multnomah falls. They're the largest waterfalls in Oregon, and at 620 feet, claim to be the second largest falls in the country (although wikipedia just informed me that that that title is debated among waterfall experts--because apparently that's something you can be). The lodge/visitor center area was pretty ridiculous...tons of people clutching iced coffee drinks, paved paths to the viewing area, and way too many people taking pictures with their ipads. But after a strenuous hike to the top of the waterfall, suddenly the people disappear and a beautiful path carves up the side of the mountain, following a river with many smaller, though still impressive, waterfalls. There's a really beautiful loop hike that goes to the Wakena Falls. I think next time I'll start at the other end, so I get to end the hike with a frappuccino  (I'm only kind of joking).

Springtime in the desert

Wedding

Dan and Kelly's wedding took place at a quaint chapel found many miles down a beautiful Oregon road south of Portland. Following the distant image of Mount Hood through green trees and colorful flowers led to the lovely Bell Chapel, where a classic ceremony and raucous after-party united the joyous couple.

The bride, beyond being absolutely beautiful, was the picture of calm through all the usual wedding panics, and truly knew how to catch the camera's eye...it was really a pleasure to photograph her.

Together the bride and groom made perfect sense, and it was a truly fun day. I've put up some of my favorite photographs I took that day (there are obviously a million more).

I also completely loved the centerpieces, flowers, and overall theme...

Such an awesome couple. My first real time at a wedding shoot, and already I know things I'll do differently the next time around (helped by the very knowledgeable guidance of Ed and Sherrie), but I  am so grateful that I got a chance to tag along and witness/capture such a lovely day.
